Carter Farrago and Argos: Swiss-Born Design Meets Japanese Precision
Carter Farrago brings together Swiss-born design language and Japanese automatic watchmaking. The Heartmatique collection pairs expressive dial details with the Miyota 82S7 automatic movement.
From Argos to Carter Farrago
Carter Farrago was acquired by Argos. The acquisition brings the brand into the Argos family while Carter Farrago maintains its own aesthetic and product philosophy.
Swiss-born design language
Carter Farrago describes its design language as Swiss-born. The Heartmatique collection expresses this through considered proportions and distinct details, including applied Obus markers, Dauphine hands and model-specific bezel designs.
All ten Heartmatique references share a 40mm 316L stainless-steel case, a listed thickness of 12.8mm and 50m water resistance. Each product page places the open-heart aperture at 7 o’clock and the small-seconds display at 5 o’clock.
The bezel details vary by reference:
- Moissanite-set: Pèarla, Noir Onyx, Mayfair Green and Cacao
- British Green: a choice of moissanite-set or Tyramid bezel
- Clous de Paris: Havane Rosé, Oxford Blue, Mulberry, Carmin and Blush Royale
“Swiss-born” describes the design language. The Heartmatique product pages identify a Japanese movement and do not describe the watches as Swiss Made.
Japanese precision: the Miyota 82S7
Every Heartmatique uses the Japanese Miyota 82S7 automatic calibre. Miyota lists automatic and hand winding, an open-heart display, small seconds, a 24-hour display and a stop-seconds device.
On the Heartmatique, the product pages place the open-heart aperture at 7 o’clock and small seconds at 5 o’clock. The pages list a 24-hour marker but do not specify its position.

What Argos learned from the Olympus II
Argos says collector feedback on the Olympus II led the company to move to Japanese Miyota movements. The change reflected a request from its community for a Miyota movement in the watch.
Carter Farrago’s Heartmatique continues that connection between Japanese automatic movements and distinctive design. The Heartmatique uses the Miyota 82S7.
A distinct design, a mechanical movement
The Heartmatique brings Carter Farrago’s Swiss-born design language together with a Japanese Miyota automatic movement. Its open-heart aperture reveals part of the movement, while the applied markers, hands and bezel details distinguish the references.
